Early morning ride to Nenthead

I arranged to meet a friend a the Hive in Nenthead for Lunch. I started early and again took the small track from Weardale to Newbiggin in Teesdale. My first stop was early on when I jumped out of the car to catch the moody scene up on Stanhope Moor with the clouds above Waskerley Reservoir. Visibility became so bad that Carr Crags was completely gone. What a change to the day before! Only on the descent into Teesdale I could stop and take some good shots. The view towards Kirkcarrion (the celtic Burial Mound above Middleton) and the surrounding scenery with the stormy weather made some good B+W scenes.   Since I was in the B+W mood I even stopped briefly in Newbiggin and took another shot of the waterfall. A really good location and so convenient just next to the road. I continued towards Alston and just before I had to turn right up the steep hill towards Nenthead I stopped at my favourite abandoned farm above Garrigill. It is always a great place to take in the scenery. This time a short sunburst lit up the lone house on the right in the distance at the crossroads just before you drop down into Garrigill / Alston.

The food and the whole atmosphere in the Hive in Nenthead was again excellent. I can highly recommend it.
