I went to see a friend at Bishop Auckland and visited the Fort at Binchester on the way. It is really interesting to visit the remains of the bathhouse and to see the reconstructed part of Dere Street which was one of the main connecting roads in Roman Britain. It is so much better than most roman sites where you can only see the foundations of some walls. Here the former Fort really comes alive.
