Trip to the Northumberland Coast

Rosalind had to take her flight back to Germany from Newcastle. After the airport I covered photo spots from Ellen Bowness´s book.

Unfortunately the tide was out at Cullercoats and there was no water at Saddle Rocks. The two piers at Cullercoats also would have been better with the tide in. However when I continued to St. Mary´s Lightshouse I was able to walk up to the Lighthouse while the Tide was still out. It was nice to see the seals sunbathing around the lighthouse. Photo 15 shows my next stopover from across the lighthouse.  The rock formations at Old Hartley. I was able to get some good shots of the lighthouse with some of the rocks as foreground. I went a bit further north to Seaton Sluice which is a very picturesque little harbour. But with the tide still out it was also lacking atmosphere.

I consoled myself with an XXL fish and chips which I split into three meals over the next days!

Being quite tired after the early start of the day I decided to make my way back to Long Marton and have a stop  over at Alston.
