Old Explosives Store at Burnhopeburn

Above Blanchland only a short walk away is the site of the former Burnhope Mine. When I went to take the BW photos I met the local farmer and he told me that the small shed was not used for farming but is the only remaining building of the mineworks. It was used to store the explosives well away from the rest of the mine. In September I managed to get some good shots of the same area in bright daylight from the road going to Stanhope. The two abandoned farms  are clearly visible. The shed is hidden behind the tree. The last shot is from another evening return when the meadow in front was  full of sheep.
