Evening on the road to Garrigill

The road out of Alston towards Teesdale is a great place to take photos in the evening. Just after you drive past the Golf Course a small road branches off down into Garrigill. I parked at the junction and climbed to top of a small ridge which used to be a quarry. The view is phantastic and I decided to come back and take a panorama from that spot (see later page). The first six photos were taken up there. Cross Fell being visible in the distance (centre of photo #2). I than continued on the road into Garrigill and stopped about half way down. I had spotted the old barn a few days before when we took Amy for a walk at Garrigill. I spent a long time walking and climbing in the fields to find the best angle for the photos (photos # 7 to #15). In Garrigill I turned left and took the very steep and narrow lane up towards the main road again (we took this lane on our Coast to Coast cycling tour following the small track up the hill further until it ends up in Nenthead ((same road that I took the panorama of Nenthead from later on)).

Back on the main road again I turned left towards Alston where I managed to get some more shots of the old barns and caught the sunset at the place just above the golf course where I started a couple of hours earlier.
