Heron at Barnard Castle
As promised to the Heron I returned the next morning really early as my first stop on my way to Bowes Castle. I was lucky because he was just below the bridge. However it was still quite dark and I had to really up the ISO on the camera to have an acceptable shutter speed which means that there is quite a bit of noise on the pictures. It was fantastic to watch him hunt and actually darting his head into the water at one point to grab a fish (the actual moment catching the fish I missed unfortunately).
I finally got some nice shots of the castle from across the bridge which is the last two on this page.
