Cross Fell and Great Dunn Fell

At 893 metres, Cross Fell is the highest point along the entire Pennine Chain. It dominates the landscape and is visible from far away with its distinctive hook Shaped Top.

In September 2013 Richard, John and Frank walked to Cross Fell starting from the village of Knock via Great Dunn Fell. All the pictures are taken from that day. They walked up the tarmac road to Great Dunn Fell with its Radar station and than walked on the high plateau towards Cross Fell. Richard was determined to find the source of the river Tees as you can see on the photos. After a rest on Cross Fell they climbed down on the steep side towards Richard´s car which they parked there in the morning to take them back to Knock. The photos are in chronological order.

P.S. The posts next to the road are there for the snow plough to be able to follow the road....
