The River Balder from Cotherstone

In the afternoon I drove to Cotherstone and parked in the small, raised lane parallel to the main road with the Fox & Hound on the plateau. Cotherstone is one of the very pretty small villages dotted along that side of the Tees: Mickleton - Romaldkirk - Cotherstone.

I followed the River Balder upstream and after a few hundred yards arrived at the remains of Balder Mill with the small but pretty waterfall (on the map the remains of the mill are not marked I just circled "Fall" to show where it is located). I continued upstream until I came to the railway Viaduct. I walked across which is part of the Tees Railway Walk with the view of the river Balder down below. I followed the Tees Railway Walk for a while and then made my way back to Cotherstone on the tarmac road.
