Cherry Island

After the Dawn Shoot and a great Breakfast at the Hotel we were n our way to Ullapool. Just north of Fort Augustus we had a short stop at Cherry Island at the start of Loch Ness . I was amazed to find out from the panel that the island is man made around 2.000 years ago and had several fortifications over the centuries. It is very small today but in earlier times the water lever of Loch Ness was much lower and the island was considerably bigger.

The light was not very good for reflections but it is definitely a nice location for a photo shoot. Further along we took a diagonal short cut to avoid Inverness and went towards Beauly where we had a really good break at a cafe / restaurant in the centre called "Corner on the Square". Really good!
