Waterfalls at Newlands and Shotley Bridge

In Ebchester you take the B6309 towards Riding Mill down the steep embankment. After you cross the Derwent you can take a left turn and park along the verge at a Farm. There is a public footpath that brings you to the two waterfalls. On the way you come past a micro pub called the swinging Cat! I googled it later and found not many hits but it looks as if it opens occasionally. It looked really interesting and I will keep checking if they are open when we are in Edmundbyers.

On the way back I spotted a rocky gorge on the left of the main road just before you enter Shotley Bridge. I parked at the entrance to the Shotley Bridge Cricket Ground and walked back a few yards to a bridge from which you can walk up the gorge. The little waterfall is only 200 yards from the road.
