We took the ferry from Ijmuiden to Newcastle and on the way to Long Marton we stopped at Nenthead. We spend some time in the Hive at Nenthead and Alston Church and had a great time there aided by Alastair Robertson searching old chronicles for Rosalind´s family tree. We also went back to Nenthead on the Sunday and spent the whole day talking to relatives and friends and visiting Bank Cottage in Nenthead where Rosalind´s family used to live. The places we visited around Long Marton are shown in the various chapters of this Folder.

On Thursday I took Rosalind back to Newcastle Airport and took the opportunity to visit some places recommended in Ellen Bowness´s book. On the way back to Long Marton I had a stopover at Alston and than a fantastic time at Hartside above Alston. On my last day at Long Marton I did the walk to Great Rundale Beck before I drove to Kinninvie to Curlew Cottage where I already had stayed in April / May.
