Landscape around Swinhope Burn

I discovered this road from Westgate to Newbiggin in January. It is one of the small link roads between Weardale and Teesdale. According to this article it is the fourth highest road in England!

Amazing that 6 of the top 8 roads are in the area and two originate at Nenthead; birth place of Rosalind´s parents!

Since January I have spent a lot of time there with fantastic scenery and great wildlife. The walk in ice cold wintry weather up to the ski-lift in January and the climb up to the quarry with the abandoned mill stone in a tremendous storm were the first fantastic experiences. Followed by the short eared owl and the barn owl encounter plus the waterfalls plus plus plus. In short it is my new favourite road! Here are some shots of the fantastic scenery. The first ones are from my walk in order to find the best place to take photos of the meandering Swinhope Burn. I did a long walk starting at the car park of the Ski lift only to find out that the best spot for it is just below the ski lift only 200 yards from the car park! Photo No 11. But the walk was still great. The last five photographs were taken on a sunny evening. Last two photos were bonus material on my way back to Edmundbyers above Crawley side which is my favourite place near the Caravan park to come to in the evenings.
