Tees View Lay-By

On the B6282 from Barnard Castle to Middleton is Whistle Crag lay-by with a fantastic view across the Tees river. I stopped there many times during the stay on my way to various locations to take photos at various times of the day. That afternoon I drove there, climbed across the wall and made my way down to the river. It was really worth it and shows that whereever you go in Teesdale the scenery is spectacular. The last four photos were taken a week later very early in the morning. The iron sculpture is one of many all across Teesdale. Air by Victoria Brailsford (known locally as the "feather" sculpture) is a cast iron sculpture, sited on a stone plinth in keeping with the stone-walled fields of the Teesdale landscape. Inspired by a sense of freedom and flight, this monumental cast iron feather perches above the breath-taking views. It is part of the Teesdale Sculpture Trail. A Teesdale Sculpture Trail | Art UK
