Bolton Priory - Posforth Gill Force - Toft Gate Lime Kiln - The Coldstones Cut

The following day we parked again at Barden Bridge but this time walked past The Strid further downstream to Bolton Priory - a ruined 12th century monastery that sits on the banks of the river Wharfe. While Rosalind and Amy had a rest at Sandholme tea rooms Frank walked up to Posforth Gill Force which is on the side of Barden Fell to the north of Bolton Abbey in an area called the Valley of Desolation. On our way back we finally found the time to visit Toft Gate Lime Kiln which we had passed every day on our trips very close to our cottage. From there it is one steep short climb to "The Coldstones Cut". Created by the artist Andrew Sabin, it is Yorkshire´s latest visitor attraction. A massive construction which visitors can freely walk through and explore. The site overlooks the huge working Coldstones Quarry. The year before the Tour de France passed Pateley Bridge hence the yellow bike.....
