Grouse Butts above Shawnberry Gill

There is a convenient car park to start this walk and a well maintained track leading to the viewpoint. The track only exists for the grouse shooting. There are lots of grouse shooting butts along the walk which are neatly numbered (photo #2). On photo #3 you can see the patches which have been burnt down with a cleared track around the squares to prevent the fire from spreading. The last two photos are from the edge of the walk trying to show the vast expense of Hamsterley Forest from left to right.
