Hartside above Alston

The stop over at the nice Railway Station cafe in Alston on my way back from Newcastle was refreshing. I went up Hartside and the late afternoon light was really great. I took some roadside shots towards Cross Fell from the abandoned shed where I had stopped before,  but decided to make my way down into the fields towards the abandoned farm further down to have a better vista. I really enjoyed the time there since the light got better and better. Some of the shots are pointed backwards towards Alston but mostly I was including the abandoned farm House with Cross Fell in the background. (On photo 18 very tiny and slightly off the centre of the picture you can spot the lonely hut that you pass when you walk up to Cross Fell from Hartside.)

I kept a lot of pictures on this page. I  simply couldn´t decide which ones to omit. It is one of my favourite spots in the Pennines.

When I finally made my way to Hartside (just half a mile further up the hill) and parked my car there I was in for another treat. The light was still great and I spent another two hours up there until the sunset. Again I was spoilt for choice and couldn´t decide which ones to have. Hope you do not mind the flood of photos :)

While I took the photos I heard two motorcycles coming up from the Penrith side. I decided to try out to take photos of them and when they came round the corner I kept clicking away. They noticed that and stopped. We had a nice chat and exchanged emails so I could send them the best ones. They were really pleased about the results (See last photos) .
