Brignall and River Greta

After I had success with the Heron at Barnard Castle very early that morning I drove to Brignall which is just south of Barnard Castle. There is a small car park at the church which is surrounded by fields of rape seed. A public footpath brings you down to the river where you find the remains of St. Mary´s church.

The small path down to the river is very nice. The church ruins are really interesting and I went further upstream towards Brignall Mill. Having spent too much time taking photographs however I went back the same way and decided to come again. Back at the church I could not resist to take some more photos of the yellow fields. Back in the car I stopped along the road to take a photo of the scene you can see on the last photo. As I came closer to the wall next to the road I chased up a lapwing chick. The parents were hovering above me and making threatening noises. I just took one quick photo and disappeared.
