We have spent many holidays over the last 40 years in the area since it is the native area of Rosalind´s parents. Right from my first visit forty years ago I have been fascinated by the wild and barren landscape.
A total contrast to the densly wooded Sauerland area where I grew up.
A great inspiration for me was and is David Bellamy´s Book "England´s last Wilderness" which is a hommage to the area.
The photographs are not sorted according to the many visits over the years. Instead I have used the valleys and areas around Alston as the main chapters and chosen the best photographs.
