Epiacum Panoramas and Glassball Photos

Epiacum in one of my favourite places in the Alston area. I recommend to visit their website to read all about the history of the fort and find many more interesting facts and photos:

The Romans - Epiacum Heritage

Panorama 1 and Panorama 3 are looking down towards the Fort from the hillside with Alston at the right side of the Panorama. The first one late afternoon and number 3 very early in the morning.

Panorama 3 was taken from one of the corners of the Fort just above the ramparts looking towards the hillside from which the other two panoramas were taken.

The first three photos on this page are single shots taken on the same occasion.  The following 6 are some maps and artists impressions of the Fort taken from various leaflets. The arial shot also gives a very good impression.

The two glassball photos were an experiment with the glassball trying to capture the ramparts of the Fort in the glassball. The stone walls cam in handy as a support for the glassball. The first is taken from the wall above the Fort. Number two is taken from the wall along the side of the Fort directly at the ramparts.

The cafe at the site is really nice and we had lot´s of coffee and lunchbreaks there. Inside the cafe I found the drawing from the 1950ies giving excellent information of what lies beneath (last 5 photos on this page).
