High Cup

High Cup is one of the most famous sights in the North Pennines. A line of exposed dolerite (part of the Great Whin Sill) that forms a spectacular rim around the steep-sided valley of High Cup Gill. In 2013 Rosalind, John and Frank walked up from Dufton in fantastic weather. Fantastic scenery, birds of prey circling above us and a group of wild horses on the way down. The last two photos were taken from the roadside on our drive back to Alston with fantastic views of Cross Fell.
