King´s Cave

The nearby car park for King´s Caves was my next stop.

I did the round trip of almost 5 Miles starting in a fantastic forest; a steep descend to the coast; a walk along the coast with the caves and finally the climb back up to the car park.

After you come out of the dense forest there are fantastic views from the top before you descend towards the coast.

The plateau across the bay is Drumadoon where an Iron age Hill Fort was situated at the top. (Photo from the Heritage Museum).

The steep climb back up to the car park gave great views towards the north of the Island. Looking down I spotted a rock which looks like a giant stranded turtle….

Last two photos were just before you enter the forest again and show the view across towards nearby Machrie Moor with the stone circles.
